Hi Everyone,
I've been using server to server virtual volumes for some time now to back up storage pools between data centres. When I originally set this up I found that the recommended size for the virtual volume was 500MB.
Surprisingly I now have thousands of virtual volumes on each site. These sit on LTO4 tapes.
The 500MB sounds pretty low to me. I assume that a low value is great for reclamation but slows down my storage pool backups as we have a lot of virtual volume mounts due the amount of virtual volumes needed per storage pool backup.
What size do other people use? Does anyone have any comments on the pros and cons of small vs large virtual volumes?
Thanks in advance,
Phill
