We currently have a problem with the Scheduler hanging a couple of our servers. When checking in Task Manager the job dsmcsvc.exe is 99% and we then need to reboot the server to resolve.

The clients are all WinNT 4 & Win2K

TSM Specs:

TSM Server: AIX 5.1

Clients: Windows NT with TSM 4.2.0

Windows 2000 with TSM 4.2.1

Any help muchly appreciated.

Don't have a answer for service hanging, but try the kill command from the W2K resource kit to kill the procces ID instead of rebooting.

This is a problem with NT and always has been. The scheduler can hang or go stale due to many reasons so Tivoli added the MANAGED SERVICE option to 4.2. This feature allows the CAD (java agent) to start and stop the scheduler as needed for schedules. It works great and I only have to bother with a couple problem servers out of over 200 NT servers. It has made backing up NT less tramatic, and I recommend you use it.
