I have recently upgraded our TSM server to 5.3 with all the latest fixes and patches. When I query events to check on the client backup status, I'm seeing something like Failed 12 or Failed 402 along with Completed.

I realize that this are return codes and have tried looking them up in the 5.3 manual, but I'm not understanding what the problem is pointing to. One indicates "media mount not possible" (12) and the other indicates media corrupted (402).

Is it the tape media? Or is it possible there is something wrong with the disk subsystem on the clients?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Are these nodes using a copy group that sends them straight to tape, or are they TDP related?

This could help someone more knowledgable than myself, if I can't help. Have you looked in the dsmerror.log file on the client to see what message it contains?

The 402s are TDP related. They are going to a disk copy pool and then to a tape copy pool.

I'm running a test tonight to identify the 12's. I think that may be a security/access issue.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.
