restore TSMDB backup to new server

Hi,

I've created TSM TEST instance in new AIX server. I've installed TSM6.3.3 and configured instance.

I've taken db backup from production server of AIX machine and the same was unable to restore to Test server.

Command Used
/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/dsmserv restore db.

Error seen as No eligible volumes found but DB backup is happening daily.

We have TS3310 library, configured with 2 logical library.

Production Resource - 80 Storage slots and 5 Drives.

Test Resource - 3 Storage slots and 1 Drives.

Kindly share a solution if any one came across this problem

Sounds to me like you don't have a valid volume history file, device configuration file, or both on the "test" system.

The process to do something like this is basically step #7 here: http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGSG7_7.1.0/com.ibm.itsm.srv.doc/t_scen_srv_recover.html

The only difference in your case is that you're going to need to change the device configuration file on the test instance to match your test library, since it's not the same as the production library.

Chandra, since you include very little of your procedure:
-Have you reassigned the actual backup tape from "production" resource to "test" resource(logical library)? That is, I'm assuming original instance is library manager for productive library, and you are trying to restore using test library(for which restored instance becomes library manager). I.e., also make sure to check and consider step 13 in what rgg posted.
(also make sure that both environments are well isolated from each other).
