We use since a couple of months a Fujitsu Eternus CS (VTL) together with TSM 6.3.
We use virtual tapes with a size of 20 GB. Behind the Eternus CS is a Quantum i6K on which the data is backed up, when the data are displaced by the 20 GB virtual tapes.
When restoring the data will be loaded from the physical tape back on the 20 GB virtual tapes. This can take a long time, for example, if the data resides on a server 100 virtual tapes. Currently our environment restores only a few MB per hour.
We don't have "Collocation" function switched on from the beginning.
My questions: Is there a way to speed up the restore by TSM? Is it possible "Collocation" to activate on the fly, how does that look like?

You cannot collocate on the fly, you collocate or you don't. You can turn collocation on now, but only new backups will be collocated. Older backups will become collocated when the volumes they reside on are reclaimed. You can force it sooner by doing move nodedata or move data.

We have set the threshold for Reclamation to 97%. This is the best value in the use of a VTL according.
