Hello

I installed the "TDP for SQL" Software on a Server, which uses a Windows Management Studio 2008 R2 Database.

The installation worked, but after that i tried to configure the Flashcopymanager by using the Wizard. And there i got my Problem.
Everything looks fine, but after the configuration the Program skipped the following settings:

- Configuring VSS Requestor
- Provisioning Data Protection for SQL Server
- Configuring Data Protection for SQL Server

I think the Flashcopymanager have a Problem with the SQL configuration.
On the Client existing 2 SQL-Servers. But i have only the right to access on one of them. For the second one my account is denied.

So there is my question:
Can i configure the dsm.opt file manuel, to guide the Flashcopymanager to the SQL-Server, on which i have the permession??
Cause i think i got this problem, because the FlashcopyWizard tries to configure the SQL-Server, which one is denied for me and not that one, which i want.

Sorry for the complicated explaining. But it is very hard to explain this issue in an easy way.
:'(

Thx for your Help

Best Regards
Franky

Thanks for the quick response.

But i am not able to select more then 1 SQL-Server in this step. (Data Protection Select)
I cannot send you a Screenshot, cause the download Manager shows the FailureMessage "This is not a valid image File".
:'(

==> I configured my Client like the way you sent me in this link. But the Problem is the same.
Is there no other way to configure my Client in the Flashcopymanager. With a commandline or something.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Holliefant,

I googled a lot in the last 3 days.
And finally i found a solution for this issue:

First of all i configured my backup without the Flashcopymanager.
I used the tdpsql.exe from the mainlocation C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\TDPSql.
==> Thx for the link. It helped very much.

At first, i configured my tdpsql.cfg like this:

LASTPRUNEDate 07/31/2014 08:50:58
SQLSERVer Servername\Database
FROMSQLserver Servername\Database
SQLAUTHentication INTegrated
MOUNTWaitfordata Yes
BACKUPMethod VSS
DIFFESTimate 20
BUFFers 3
BUFFERSIze 1024
STRIPes 1
SQLBUFFers 0
SQLBUFFERSIze 1024
LOGPrune 60
DATEformat 1
NUMBERformat 6
TARGETNode 1
LANGuage ENU
LOGFile C:\PROGRAM FILES\TIVOLI\TSM\TDPSQL\sqlfull.log
BACKUPDestination TSM
LOCALDSMAgentnode ServerName
SqlCompression No
QUERYOPTimization 0

==> The most important things are the SQLServer, FromSQLServer, BackupDestination and LOCALDSMAgentnode.

After this the program startet normally and i was able to connect myself to the Database.
I tried to to backup this one via VSS.
Unfortunately i got the error message "ANS1033E (RC-53) An invalid TCP/IP address was specified"

Lucky me, i found this site when i searched for this issue:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21570334

==> I filled the missing parameter "TCPCADADDRESS" in my dsm.opt file.

After this i tried it again.
And finally it worked without problems.

I am sry that i don't have a solution for the problem in the Flashcopymanager.
The issue there is still the same.

But thanks a lot for your help.
Maybe i will find a solution sometime.
If this occurs, i will write it in this thread.
But for now i am still happy that it finally works.

I wish you a great weekend.

Best regards
Franky
