NetApp selective restore question.

When I run a selective restore (1 file) for NetApp data, the tape (LTO4), loads within a minute, but the restore takes in excess of 1 hour. Can anyone provide insight as to why this is? Thanks.

as far as ndmp is concerned:your filer needs to read the complete ndmp-dump, even if you only want to restore a single file.

cheese, love the handle... wish it was mine. Anyway, why does the filer need to read through the whole NDMP dump? TSM has already identified the volume in which the data resides, and I've given the full path to the file. What goes on during this 1 hour?
