Hi all,

I need to delete some old DBB files from long way back. I have recent DB backups.

Would I have to delete these manually as the command below will not delete these old DB backups ?

I just don't want to upset TSM and the database.

del volhist todate=-2 t=dbb force=yes

Do you wish to proceed? (Yes (Y)/No (N)) y
ANR2467I DELETE VOLHISTORY: 0 sequential volume history entries were successfully deleted.

As you can see they are from way back.

Hi,

is TSM does not see them in "q volhist type=dbb" (and - just for being sure - in "q volhist type=dbs") then TSM does not know about them and they can be deleted from the disk without fear.
In fact, if you delete ANY DB backup, TSM does not mind. They are not needed for operation.

ok, DB backups are recent within TSM - last few days etc...

Volume Type: BACKUPFULL
Backup Series: 1,203
Backup Operation: 0
Volume Seq: 6
Device Class: DBBACKUP
Volume Name: /usr/tivoli/tsm/sandump/tsmdbbackup/64539167.DBB
Volume Location:
Command:

But did have some references to old snapshots.

I think I can safely remove these old .dbb files.

Thanks Harry for you're help
