Hi NetWorkers,
I'm a TSM person so my knowledge about NetWorker are limited.

I try to setup a NDMP backup on our NetApp Server that has a direct Fiber attach library.
I got the feeling that the GUI in version 7 of Networker is not the best so I run the command line to setup my library.

When I run jbconfig and choose 3 to setup my NDMP SCSI Jukebox, it ask me for NDMP Tape Server Name and I type NETAPP <enter>

jbconfig connect to my NetApp fine but then it tells me following error.

Communicating to devices on NDMP Server '' NETAPP' , this may take a while...
14484:jbconfig: Scanning SCSI buses; this may take a while ...
42597:jbconfig: ndmp scsi open: the device is in use
42617:jbconfig: NDMP Service Log: Privilege conflict while putting persistent re
servation on the device.
14486:jbconfig:
There appear to be no SCSI jukeboxes connected to this system.
This could mean the SCSI jukebox(es) are not connected to the system,
cannot be seen (pending a reboot) or have already been configured.
14487:jbconfig: On Windows Systems, this could mean that the SCSI jukebox(es) ar
e
enabled for Microsoft Removable Storage.
14488:jbconfig:
Please rerun the program after making the necessary changes.

If I login to my NetApp I can see both st0a and mc0 and if I run inquire -N NETAPP
Enter NDMP user name: ? ndmpuser
Enter 'ndmpuser' password on NDMP host 'NETAPP' (characters will not be ech
oed):

I have try to google on error code 42617:jbconfig but don't find nothing?

Can I run a command line and hard code the path or do I need to let NetWorker to find it on it own?

Please help,
Best Regards
Christian Svensson

Check if there is any running NDMP jobs in the Netapp.
Use the vommand ndmpd status
If you get output similar to output below you have a hanging/crashed backup.
stop all running jobsi with ndmpd 22 kill or ndmpd killall

Hi Christian, Glad to help.
Well regarding TSM vs NetWorker I always like a challenge and what
can be more challenging than NetWorker and finding documentation regarding
NDMP errors? ;)

/Just trolling.
