What appears in your server activity log when you try to do the backup and it fails?
How are things working now you've set the copypool to nothing?
How many volumes do you have in the file pool? Why are they all 2GB if you have a really large number? It may be related to that.
Can you post the output of "q mount".
Halting the server and restarting it will clear any mounts that have hung for some reason.
