Migrating from TSM 3.7 to 5.1.x on AIX 4.3.3 server

Yes, you can use an older client backing up to the latest server.
If you want to use the latest client feature, the client would have to be upgraded to the
latest version.
Remember if you need assistance from IBM/Tivoli. The client would have to be upgraded to a supported version of the client.

There is a good chance the the older clients will work with the newer TSM server,
HOWEVER, be aware that as if Apr 15th, 2003 TSM will NOT support any clients which
are v4.2 or lower. Offically, this is a true statement.
In reality, I have been told that some customers CANNOT upgrade to the newer clients for a variety of reasons, and can get some help on this basis. TSM will not perfrom any bug fixes to the clients that are version 4.2 or older, but will propably answer questions which are in their knowledge base.
