Our DB is on raw files, not OS. Is it still possible to migrate a TSM DB from AIX to Linux? We're in the midst of a project and being told this isn't possible. I smell something...
Many ways but you can install a new TSM instance on AIX then simply migrate the client data using export. If not too much data.
I would try install TSM on AIX then restore the LINUX database onto it, It may not work and probably wouldn`t be supported.
Not sure if migration from AIX to Linux will work. You will have to test.
It's certainly not supported.
Since you're already half way on the project, I would take the safest route which is export/import.
Yeah we were trying to avoid the export/import due to some very large nodes (~20TB). These nodes have 365 retention and forever incremental etc. Exporting such a node (while you can't back up mind you) would take a looong time.
We're going to have to look at other options. If thats our only option we may end up holding onto the AIX box for a year until the data expires, while backing new data up to a new TSM instance.
