LTO9 volumes can be labelled, but not written onto

Hi,
we have new TS4500 with LTO9 cartridges installed. All new tape- and changer-devices are online n Linux OS and in the Library Manager instance. I also could start labelling them, whick takes almost 1 hour per cartridge.

But I can not write to the tapes! Not even a database backup, done by the Library Manager itself. Could it be that our TSM Server version 8.1.16.106 be too old, although it offers ULTRIUM9 drive format?
