Hi there,

Can anyone answer the following question please.

Currently running a Linux client (o/s 2.4.18-14) with TSM 5.2.20

TSM Server is currently running 5.3.3.2 and I would like to update to 5.3.4 or even up to 5.4.

Will the Linux clients still work with the upgrade?

Rgds

Normally, IBM supports one version difference. If the TSM server is running 5.3, it can accept clients running 5.2, 5.3 or 5.4 A client running 5.2 could connect to a server running 5.1, 5.2 or 5.3 but not 5.4 This rule is not written in stone (but seems like IBM has done this since ADSM 3.1 when I started)

What will work and what is supported is not always the same thing. You should go with the official supported statement from IBM if at all possible.

Our TSM server is a Linux machine with TSM 5.4.

Yesterday, I installed TSM 5.2 on one of the clients, and it seems to work.
If it doesn't work, that would be very problematic for us, because TSM 5.3 and later doesn't support Solaris 7, so I had to install TSM 5.2.

I still haven't figured out which version of TSM to install on Solaris 2.6 machines...

We also had a SunOS 4 server until just a few months ago, but fortunately it has been replaced. It did work very well in Networker though.
