Large Database SAP/Oracle in a VM

Hi!

Our company is evaluating to swtich its SAP-Servers to ESX.
My Problem with that: Backing up Large Databases with > 1TB LanFree is not supported.

Does anyone outhere have huge SAP Servers running as VMs!?
If so: How do you backup them (online)?

I just back mine up as though they are normal nodes. Oracle --> RMAN backups.
Depending on network speed and latency, >1TB can take maybe 1-2 days for a good backup, with archives queueing up in between.
Restores < wiping sweat off brow > would not be fun though for an online shop.

I do not know if the TSM VE API can work with any TDP, but I have my suspicions it would not help so much.
Perhaps someone in the know can chime in on that...?
