Instant Backup Start

hi all together,

is there an option in tsm to backup an client which can't be backed up with the scheduler?
i'm searching an option like in the tdp for ve to immediately start the backup from the server...
or must i always go to that client and start the backup with "dsmc inc"?

Only 3 ways:
- use the TSM scheduler
- use the client (command or GUI)
- use a 3rd party scheduler

If you have the scheduler configured, you can kick off a backup to start at any time outside of the regular schedule using DEFINE CLIENTACTION . For this to work good, you need to have the client scheduler configured to be in SCHEDMODE PROMPTED mode. It will still work in POLLING, but the schedule will not start immediately, it will start the next time the scheduler queries the TSM Server for other schedules.

or i update ur tsm server to 7.1.4 level for the new feature.
