I have an IBM 3583 Library with the multipath. I am having trouble setting up the library to work with TSM. I have 2 drives daisy chained together and plugged into a scsi card in the back of the server.

This appears to be the correct way to set the library up when using multipath. I am a little confused as to how tsm communicates with the library. When setting up tsm - it searches and finds the 2 tape drives - they show up as GENDRV_*. TSM does not appear to know anything about the library.

The is no entry for the library in the device manager. (I am using win2k).

How do I get tsm to use the library - from what I can tell, the library commands are sent through the tape drive (instead of using the scsi host interface card as in previous models off the library)... is this correct?

I cant seem to get hold of any documentation on setting the system up - does anyone have any?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

For a 3583 LTO library you must use the IBM Ultrium Device Driver. You must

also disable the Win2k RSM service or it will grab the devices before the IBM

driver can. The TSM device driver is not used. When the correct driver is installed,

the TSM device manager will show the devices as LTO instead of GENDRV. The

Ultrium driver and manual should come with the 3583. You can also check out

the TSM 5.2 Quick Start manual for info on how to disable the RSM driver.
