How to upgrade from TDP vs 5.2 to 6.1?

Hi,

On my Exchange 2003 server the client TDP version 5.2 is already installed and we have mounted a new TSM server. Now I need to upgrate the TDP client from 5.2 to 6.1.

What is the best to way to do that? Just install the new client over the old one and point it to the new TSM server? Is there any procedure for that?

I'am not sure if it is possible to update directly from 5.2 to 6.1; imho it isn't possible. Why don't you deinstall your old 5.2 TDP and install the new one (without updgrade).

and for the uninstallation, is there any specific way or I just need to go on Add/Remove and uninstall it?

Quick check list

1 - Stop all BA and TDP services
2- add/remove program, BA and TDP. TDP first after do the BA
3 - check the baclient and TDP folder, Copy the dsm.opt and cfg for reference.
4 - Clean up the folder BA and TDP
5 - If you want, you can check\delete the registry. HKLM\Software\IBM\ADSM
6 - Install the BA client
7 - Configure the client
8 - Install the TDP
9 - Configure the TDP
10 - Test backup
11 - Test restore
