How to Turn a unknown tape in to scratch

Hi all ,

In our environment , we found a lot of old tapes that seems to be expired long back

I tried finding them in the volume history of all the TSM Servers and the Library managers to locate them .

1.Few volume were found in the Volume history , but they don't exist in the Volume / Lib volume table
What can be done with such volumes

2. There are volumes which are not found any where , how can they be turned in to scratch immediatly

How can we create scratch for these two situations

If they are not in Q VOL or in VOLHISTORY, then you can just check them in as scratch and start using them. TSM won't let you check them in as scratch if they are still assigned to a storage pool or a database backup. That's why when we checkin volumes we always do scratch before privates.
