Networker 7.3.2 running on Solaris 10, ADIX jukebox.

Confused.

a) If I have 2 available drives on a jukebox, should I restrict the number of processes writing to those drives to 2 ?, e.g. 1 nsrclone and 1 nsrstage, or 2 nsrstage ?

Or (b), do I create multiple processes - does Networker work it out ? e.g. 2 drives, Networker might 'merge' 4 streams per drive, so I start up 2 * 4 = 8 nsrstage processes ?

If (b), how many processes per stream should I expect ?

TIA

I assume that you are referring to the target amount per device...if that is the case, the target amount is the initial streams it will assume until passing it on to the next tape drive. Normally it is set to four. If you want Networker to utilize more drives faster you can set the target amount to 2 or something. Keep in mind that restores are faster when the data does not span multiple tape medias.
