Hi,

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server that I want to exclude the systemstate. We are using a cloptset for backup, and our dsm.opt file you can see under. Could I thought I could just add the "exclude.systemservice" to dsm.opt ? But that failed, so what is the correct attribute ?

COMMMETHOD TCPIP
TCPPORT 1500
TCPSERVERADDR 192.168.50.2
TCPBUFFSIZE 32
TCPWINDOWSIZE 63
PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE
RESOURCEUTIL 2
DATEFORMAT 4
NUMBERFORMAT 5
GUITREEVIEW YES
ERRORLOGRET 7,D
SCHEDLOGRET 7,D
USEUNICODEFILE NO
LANG AMENG
RESETARCHIVEATTRIBUTE YES
SCHEDMODE POLLING

Thanks for reply

But will this exclude systemstate ? To me it seems that only the eventlog will not be taken backup off.... I want to exclude systemstate beacuse we have issues with vss, and are not able to fix it without reinstalling, and systemstate uses vss.....

issue "vssadmin list writers", a Microsoft VSS tool, to list all VSS writers.

than use EXCLUDE.SYSTEMSERVICE "VSS_WRITER_NAME VSS WRITER"

the problem is that it shows nothing, we have tried register them again, +++ but fails, so I need it to not try snapshot at all.

If you are otherwise backing up all other drives on this client this would be your dsm.opt domain entry......

DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL -SYSTEMSTATE

This will backup "all local" data, but exclude systemstate.

What version of TSM BA Client are you using?

solved with "DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL -SYSTEMSTATE". Thanks.
