How can change retention period for existing backup data

Hi,

One of the node in TSM got demised with out taking archive backups. Now business team required to keep data for 5 years. How can we change exiting data retention period to 10 years. My TSM server running with 7.1.9 and no Tape library attached. All storage pools are primary and disk pools only. Please advice a solution for this.

You need to update the copygroup(s) that to have a longer retention period. However, that affects ALL the nodes in that domain using those management classes. If that the case, you can do this instead:

- Copy the domain that node belongs to a new domain (HELP COPY DOMAIN).
- In the new domain, update the retention on the management class that these files are bound to (HELP UPDATE CO)
- Then update the node to become part of the new domain (HELP UPDATE NODE).

So, from that point forward, when expiration runs, it will look at the retention in the new domain for that node.
