I have a Customer who is having a heck of a time getting the TSM client to run On an AIX HACMP cluster. He does not care about the failover functionality of the TSM client at this point. All He wants to do is backup the indivdual cluster nodes as individual clients.

Here is the Software Info:

AIX 5L Ver 5.3

HACMP Ver 5.3

TSM client 64 Bit ver 5.2.4 and others in the 5.2.X versioning

All attempts to run these clients core dump before even getting started. Don't even get to the begining of the startup TSM client window.

As a work around we found if we Stop clustering services and rename the /etc/es/odmrepos to any other name the client works fine! after the client backs up we restart clustering services.

Do we need to have TSM Client 5.3? Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone have any Ideas as to why this is occuring? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

When HA starts, it replaces things in the ODM. It might "fiddle" with the bits that TSM needs in the ODM. I would try an TSM 5.3 as it is more HA friendly. (There might be some steps needed to make it more HA friendly)

The AIX HACMP support team is top notch. They should be able to tell you the answer in a matter of minutes.

Thank You for your help! It turns out TSM Client ver 5.3 works correctly with out the core dump problems. Just wanted to thank you and post for completeness.
