I need to backup Exchange 2003, SP2. I purchased the Tivoli for Mail, and another client license.

I have limited experience with TSM (mostly just in a support mode), and now I have to create a new domain policy, schedue, class, etc for a 30 day backup.

Is there anything I should watch out for? Any advice?

What should I set these settings to for a 30 day retention policy: Versions Data Exist, Deleted, Retain, and Retain Only? I know what to set them to for a file server, but I am unsure about exchange.

That's a long time to back up a large exchange environment. Our Versions Data Exist is set to 2, and versions deleted to 1. Other than that I think our mgmt class is default.

Thank you

If I do a windows backup of our store, its about 200GB.

If I have to follow a 30 day retention policy dont I have to set it to 30? That covers a change in the file every day, otherwise, wont I loose versiosn beyond 2?

i set mine to
version exists=30
versions delete=30
retain extra=30
retonly only=60

Set up two schedules just for ex
