Hello All,

I have to set up a Exchange Backup for a 2 Node DAG.
I'm using a customized Version of the backupdag.ps1 Scripts provided by IBM.

This is my DAG Configuration:

- Mailbox Server MBXSRV01 (TSM TDP Nodename EXC-MBXSRV01)
=> Holds the active Databases in normal Operation

- Mailbox Server MBXSRV02 (TSM TDP Nodename EXC-MBXSRV02)
=> Holds the passive Database Copies in normal Operation

This is my Backup Configuration:

- Both Servers, MBXSRV01 and MBXSRV02, are scheduled to do Full/Incr
Backups to their TSM Nodes EXC-MBXSRV01 and EXC-MBXSRV02
Using the backupdag.ps1 Script a Mailbox Database will be backed up,
if it's Status is "Passive/Healthy" (Assuming there is a Healthy Copy)

- A Full Backup is done 2 Times a Week. Log Backups are done every 2 Hours.

Problem:
After Fail over/Switch of a Database the Log Backup runs without Error although
there is no valid Full Backup on the Node that runs the Log Backup after the Switch.

My Questions:

- To restore the Databases, do I have to keep Records when which Database was
Backed Up to present consistent Full backup/Log Sequence to the Exchange Server
manually using "Redirected Restores"?

- Is it possible to use one virtual Node for the DAG Backups to avoid this?

- Is my Configuration completely wrong?

I opened a Call with TSM Support asking why the TDP does not recognize the
invalid Log sequence. TSM Support told me, that I have to make my Scripts
aware of DAG Fail over/Switch and then run Full Backups as needed.
But this would be very risky, because the Backup Objects do not have a Log Sequence
Number and I can not verify if the Backups are consistent.

I not a Exchange Admin so may be I'm missing something essential in how DAG's
should be backed up or restored.

All Comments are highly appreciated :)
