We want to use the ESX Ranger to backup the VM VMDK.s and VMX.s on a common shared VMFS SAN lun for backups (seen from all ESX Hosts) and afterwards backup these data to the TSM Server.
The first step is "lan free" (I hope so)
How to realize the second step ? (lan free or not)

We do much the same thing here.....

We have a VM running ESX Ranger with SAN space. ESX backups run to the SAN space, then TSM backs up the SAN.

nothing too fancy.

what do mean with the TSM backup the SAN ? which TSM client on which Host backup the files produced by the ESX Ranger ?

We have a VM - named Bob,,, Bob is running ESX Ranger backing up other VM's. Bob has space mapped on our SAN, Bob also has a TSM client. Bob backs up the VM's to its SAN space, then later in the morning hours Bob's TSM client backs up that SAN space where the VM backups are kept.

If I understand your ESX Ranger is virtualized (= VM Host on an ESX Server).

Are you utilizing ESX Ranger Pro interfacing with the Virtual Center ?

If yes is your Virtual Center virtualized or is it a physical machine ?

What is in a DR case ?
