AIX 7.1 hardware, 3584 LTO6 libraries, TSM Server current 7.1.1.100 but upgrading to 7.1.5 within a week. 2 Datacenters, Production and DR.
I've been asked if we can encrypt our payroll data on tape. Looking it appears this can be done on an application basis or on a library basis. I already know about the deduplication issues and that is not a real problem, however my question is...
If we turn on encryption for production backups for this application (client/server whatever) does that have any issues in recovering from a disaster using the DR datacenter with about the same hardware. Would it be recoverable?
Is turning on whole library encryption better than just for specific applications?
I have a call into IBM for the morning, but trying to get a heads up what I might be looking at. Obviously we are not encrypting anything right now.
