Easiest way to view old Activity logs?

Looking to answer an audit question. Client logs are long gone. Just needing to show that a certain server backed up successfully.

That depends on how long you keep the actlog.
If the messages have been purged from the TSM Server.
If you have an old backup of the TSM Server database, restore the data base on a test system and see if there are any backup statistics info for the node in question.
If you only keep 3 version of the database backup, the oldest backup may not be old enough.

you can always try a select against the summary table, but it is also limited in time normaly 30 days i belive.

check 2 things

Activity log retention days ( Q status)

oldest available DB backup (q volh t=dbb)

by both you can analyze the no.of days you can go back ( also you may need to consider activity log numer of records and activity log size )

Thanks for the replies...I was able to negotiate for an answer that fell within my activity log retention period.
