Does anyone have experience with the following:
We just installed an EMC 4406 with 2 virtual tape libraries. After a day or so we discovered that each of the libraries was configured with the same volser range. All tapes are defined with LTO3 device class but VTL1 uses device class name of LTO3_01 and VTL2 uses device class name of LTO3_02. We will have 3+ TSM servers using the libraries with requests for mounts going through a library manager.
We've temporarily stopped writing to VTL2 to assess the negatives of this configuration. Re-defining one of the libraries to use a different volser range is an option but we don't want to do this unless absolutely necessary.
Where are the potential problems with this configuration?
Thanks... Nick
