Hello all,

I'm considering doing a dbsnap on a monthly basis and keeping it indefinitely. The reasoning behind this is due to the fact that we have indefinite data retention for a few of our clients.
My plan is to create device type=file; run prepare source=dbsnapshot to the device type=file. Outside of TSM (of course) compress the file that dbsnapshot creates as well as the drmplan. Archive delete that file to a really long term archive management class on another TSM server.
Please comment on the logisitcs/validity/sanity of my plan. I'm still in the "kicking it around" stage. Please reserve comments on the "indefinite retention", it's what it is. Thanks.

On second thought, I'm thinking virtual volumes would be a simpler solution.
