We want to avoid that during maintenance, for instance on our library ,some restore requests were launched. Is there a possibility to disable restore sessions without having to disable all sessions. There is an optin for dsmserv.opt but then you have to stop/start TSM.
Restores are initiated by the client and i suppose there are options to disable, but we want to disable it on the server side.

thanks for your time

I don't think you can disable just restores very easily.

I suppose you could just take all your paths offline, then even if someone does try and do a restore no tape library activity will happen..

Cheers

thanks for your message.

In our last case (intervention) the whole library was down and also the paths, when powered up, the restores came in. I think buffered somewhere. The problem was that not everything was ok for mounting.

Cisse,

What is the TSM server verision you are using ..And are you going in for restartable restore

tsm v5.5 and shortly also v6.1

yes, restartable restore.

thanks for your reaction

You could issue a : "disable sessions client"
That would prevent client sessions and still let administrative ones pass through.

thanks for your message and time
it looks a good one i will try it out to see what still can be done and what not
