Is it possible to setup the TSM directly backup data to tape ??

If it possible is there any configuration should be done ?
thanks

You can create a LTO class (or whatever type your tapes are) Sequential Access Storage Pool and direct your backup copy group to that storage pool.

please verify your config for us - also check your tape paths and keep your drives online. Verify your device class, management classes etc... Do full detail on each so you get a complete picture

this is the query from stgpool

Storage Device Estimated Pct Pct High Low Next Stora-
Pool Name Class Name Capacity Util Migr Mig Mig ge Pool
Pct Pct
----------- ---------- ---------- ----- ----- ---- --- -----------
ARCHIVEPOOL DISK 0.0 M 0.0 0.0 90 70
BACKUPPOOL DISK 0.0 M 0.0 0.0 0 0
DISKPOOL DISK 4.0 M 0.1 0.0 0 0
LTOPOOL1 LTOCLASS1 0.0 M 0.0 0.0 90 70
SPACEMGPOOL DISK 0.0 M 0.0 0.0 90 70

attached the query result devclass, drive, library, management class, path.

is it enough ??

Post "q copy f=d"

And the include/exclude list for the node you are trying to get to go to tape (ie "q inclexcl" *on the client*)

You need to have the destination for the copygroup pointing at the tape storage pool.

Look to your PATH.TXT The path to your Drive is not Online.
Try to set these path Online to reach the Drive.

hi,

--->u might have defined a copy group in that specify the destination as your tapepool .&quot; define copygroup domain_name policyset_name class_name destination=LTOPOOL&quot; (or else)<B>
---->In the Diskpool ,set the highmig=0 and lowmig=0 &quot;define stgpool diskpool higmig=0 lowmig=0 Nxtstgpool=LTOPOOL&quot;. the datas from the client starts to move to the diskpool once it checks the mig as 0 ,it will automatically starts migrating to the tapepool;
I think either of the step would help u out...:)
