Hello

I am trying to start the Client Acceptor service on a Windows 2003 client, However I am getting the following message.

"Could not start the TSM Client Acceptor service on the Local Computer"

erro 3: the system cannot find the path specified

I have checked and everything looks correct.

Thanks for any help or suggests!

I know you checked but is the path to the dsm.opt file correct and is the dsmcad.exe correct? When I have this type of error it was usually a typo during the schedluer setup that caused the error.

Dear mate,

Hi ,

This error looks like O/S related rather than TSM...
Have you installed the TSM baclient freshly on to O/S ?
Are the normal manual bacups are going on succesfully ?
Please reboot the server once and try to start the CAD once again :)
Check the location of original dsm.opt file location and the default path specified by the CAD agent while u r setting up the CAD service

hope this may helps....

Thanks

I would suggest you to remove the TSM Scheduler service completely from BA client GUI.

Then do dsmc using your dsm.opt location if able to do then

Reconfigure the TSM scheduler service.
If its still not working check the modification date of dscenu.txt file in the api and baclient directory. On both the directory it should be of same date and of same size.

If not better go for reinstallation of BA Client.

Thanks guys for your replies,

Fuzz, I checked the path and it's correct, yes the TSM baclient was installed freshly on the o.s.

The modification date for the dscenu.txt file in the baclient directory file is 3/22/09. I can't locate the api where would that be?

I ran a manual backup and it worked, I removed the TSM Scheduler service completely from the BA client Gui and did a

1.dsmcutil remove /name:"TSM Client Scheduler"

I re-intalled the scheduler serverice and it's still l not working

Important note that I should add the following is how the dsm.opt is configured (this A VCB configuration.

Fuzz, Arunbabu and Maddy thanks!

The issue has been resolved I believe I did the following

I removed the web client agent completely from the BA client Gui and did a

dsmcutil remove /name:"TSM Client Acceptor" >> I should have done this in the first place (my fault)

I re-intalled the web client agent using the GUI and did the following

dsmcutil update cad /name:"TSM Client Acceptor" /cadschedname:"TSM Client Scheduler"

Thanks
