Hi All,

I have a client that wants OFS turned on on one of our Win 2008 servers. From what I'm told, this client has VSS turned on already. What do I need to do to turn on this feature with TSM? I know I need to go into the backup/archive client and install this option with "VSS" as the provider, but what else needs to happen? I can't find a good configuration guide. I'm sure there are options that need to be updated in the dsm.opt file, and there may be work that needs to be done on the client to make sure this will work (like ensuring there's enough space on the C: drive).

Can anyone share their thoughts on how to get this feature running?

Sincere thanks,
C.J.

search "Configuring Open File Support" and "Client options Reference" in UserGuide

for example:

snapshotproviderfs VSS

Configure the client for Open File Support.
Start the Backup-Archive Client GUI: Start > Programs > Tivoli Storage
Manager > Backup-Achive GUI.
Open the setup wizard:
1) Select the Utilities tab and then scroll down and select Setup Wizard.
2) On the Welcome screen, select Help me configure Open File Support.
Then click Next twice.
3) On the Tivoli Storage Manager Open File Support Wizard, select
Volume Shadowcopy Services (VSS).
4) Click Next and then click Apply.
