Hi,

do you know what ports do I need to open on the client machine to allow tsm server to backup the client. so far I opened 1500, 1581 on the client but the backup still failing.

1581 is for the http webclient, once the jave applet loads I get the following error.

"ANS2600S" Browser trying to establish connection to client, recieved socket excption.

any help will be appreciated.

Try turning off iptables and running the client. Then use netstat to view which ports are in use. Then enable iptables and see which ports are no longer connected.

1500 & 1501 is needed for TSM backup,

but if you want you use the Web interface you need to open
httpport 1581
and
webport xxxx xxxx (two of you choice)
and add these parameter in your dsm.opt file
