I am trying to run a one time full backup from the command line on a AIX system. I am having a problem determining the exact command. Could someone provide the command?

Thanks!

Tim

if you want to force a backup of a file you got to choos the "Selective" mode

just do "backup sel *" on a your dsmc console.

That works, but only on the current file system. I want to do a complete full backup of the entire system. I've tried variations of the backup command, but nothing I've tried get's the entire system. I know it's possible. I know it can be done through the client GUI. I just want to know how to do it through dsmc. A call to support was not helpful.

Hi -

I run all incrementals usually...just wondering if you have tried this - and if it work(ed/s)?

dsmc selective "/*" subdir=y

-C-

Yes, I have tried that. It does not backup everything.

We run incrementals, too. But, rarely, we'll move a client to a different storage pool (same TSM server), instead of moving the data, we'll run a full backup to get everything into the new storage pool.

I know the GUI can do it, so there has to be a command that does the same thing.
