checkin new volumes for scratch

Hi,

I'm trying to checkin new tapes we bought as scratch tapes. This does not seem to work. any help would be appreciated. This is with a 349X library.

checkin libvolume <library_name> search=yes status=scratch volrange=400000,400001

I'm thinking I may have to use the "checkLabel argument, is that true? is so, do I still need the "search=yes"

maybe something like?

checkin libvolume <library> search=yes checkl=yes status=scratch volrange=40000,40001

You need to label new tapes.

LABEL LIBVOLUMES <LIBRARY> search=yes labelso=barcode checkin=scratch overwrite=yes

how does it know to use tapes that are not set to "private" or for that matter how does it know a tapes has not label?

If I have 20 brand new tapes in the library will this command only label those tapes and not affect anything else?
