We just installed a Ts3500 and we bulk loaded the tapes. Everything looks fine when I run an MTLIB command under AIX. I can see all 200 tapes.

The drives and library came online to TSM without issue.

However, when I try to checkin the tapes, TSM can't find them. I have tried search=yes, search=bulk, etc.

If I put a tape in the I/O drawer, I still can't check it in.

I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

Have you performed an audit of the library first prior to the checkin command?
Also use checklabel=barcode option as well within your checkin command.

Let us know

If you type the Q ACT for the time when the checkin command, you should get a pretty good hint of what the issue is.

The checkin completes sucessfully so there is no error in the actlog.
I have tried an audit lib also. Nothing.

I am thinking we have something set up incorectly and the tapes are not in the logical library that TSM is accessing (even though we only have 1 logical library).

Found the issue

The "default" logical library was set up for 8 character volsers and we were trying to use 6 characters in TSM.

We changed the library to 6 characters and all is well now.
