Hello!

Few days ago i take some new empty tapes in our library and labeled.
After that i saw all of them as a scratch tapes, but now some tapes disappeared! I cant query 3 tapes, but those are in the library. When i write: q vol xxxxl4 f=d i get No match found using this criteria. message.
I saw the labeling was successful!!!

How could it be?

Thank you!!

If the "q vol" shows "No Match Found", there is a possibility that the tape was used for a dbbackup or an export.
To see is this is the case issue "q volhist" .

...new empty tapes in our library and labeled.

When we issue the label libv, did we also use overwrite=yes?
If not, the new scratch tapes were not label due to an existing internal label.
Would need to check out and re-label the tapes with the overwrote=yes parameter.

Good Luck,
Sias

I used overwrite=yes and when i labeled this tape i saw in the scratch list.
But today i dont see and cant query.

I have just ran volhist and i found tapes what i search.
Two of them is Volume type: BACKUPFULL Backup series: 5696 backup operation: 0 Volume seq: 1 and nothing else,
one of them has stgnew and later stgdelete. I think the last tape is being lost.
Could i re-label only that? What could happened with two others?

Two of the tape volumes are used for a database backup.

As for the volume that have stgnew and stgdelete.
At one point the volume was defined to a storage pool.
Then deleted, possibly due to space reclamation.

From the TSM Server Command Line issue "q libv" and see what the volume is listed as.

When you say "only that" . Which tape are you referring to?
The tape that showed up via the q volhist?

What "two other" tapes are you referring to?
The tape with the stgnew and then stgdelete?

Sias

I'm seraching 3 tapes. As you say 2 tapes have used for DB backup. Thats ok! The third was what i couldnt query.
...But now that already belongs to stgpool. I think i found it...

How could i query that tapes what are being used for DB backup?

I don't understand your question.
If you are wanting to know what tape volume that contain the DB backup.
From the TSM Server Command Line issue q volhist type=dbb .

Sorry for my english.
This was the answer for my question! :D
I found that tape which have used for db backups.
Only one more question.
My last problem is the third tape, which i found in volhist list with stgnew and stgdelet registration.
When i run qurey for this tape, im still getting "No match found using this criteria.", and the scratch list doesnt contain it.
Should i re-label it?

Okay..So the 3d volume is not listed when we issue the q volhist.
Since this is the case, the volume in question is not being tracked by the volume history.

When i run qurey for this tape, im still getting "No match found using this criteria.", and the scratch list doesnt contain it.

What query command did we issue?

Good Luck,
Sias
