I was having trouble checking in and out tapes in TSM so i used the Tapedrive to check them in. In the tape drive you can see the new tapes but they will not show up in TSM. Every command i run in tsm is hanging and not finishing, even when i try to cancel a process, i even check q request and there are no requests

I have tried to run the following commands and they just hang and dont finish
- audit library TS4300 CHECKL=bar REFRESHs=yes
- Checkin libv TS4300 search=bulk checklabel=yes status=scr

Here the Processes are have been here for two days and wont cancel

Tapes showing in TSM, the circled ones are the ones ive checked out but still appear

Bellow are the new tapes checked in using the tape library

The TSM Server will never know if the tape is checked in the library since we issue the following.
Tapedrive to check them in.
It is necessary to execute the check-in command through the TSM Server application.

Regarding the scratch tapes being checked in, it is unclear whether they are new tapes or tapes previously used by the TSM Server.

Like Trident say
Reboot is preferred, but take more time
Also, may need to schedule time for the reboot.
Not sure what OS is hosting the TSM Server, if its Unix, may want to try this.
If its Windows, can still try the following but better off rebooting.

No specific order.
- Halt the TSM Server application.
- Power down the tape library.

Once the library is power down.
Restart in the following order.
- Restart the library.
DO NOT restart the TSM Server application until the library has completed its post!!
- Restart the TSM Server application.

Confirm that the scratch tapes are loaded in the bulk I/O area of the library.

Once everything is restarted, would issue the following:
- audit library TS4300 CHECKL=bar REFRESHs=yes
- Checkin libv TS4300 search=bulk checklabel=yes status=scr

If the results are still the same.
Post the actlog starting when we issue the checkin command.

Good Luck,
Sias

Hi,

I recommend restarting the spectrum protect instance. (Reboot is preferred, but take more time).
Hello

Thanks , i think that will be my last resort
