Change existing archives expiration date

AIX server/Client TSM



We have a number of Perm Archives. Payroll data, Legal Data etc...



They are all set to expire 1 year from creation due to the way the Archive Copy group was setup (365 days).



We have changed the Archive Copy Group to be UnLimit (may eventually set it to the equiv of 7 years) as this information needs to remain for that period of time.



Is there a way to change the Expiration of the existing already done Archives without extracting them and re-archiving them?

You are in luck,

Since the archive copygroup controls expiration.............if you extend the retention period for the copygroup...........the change effects not just future archives, but all previous ones tied to that copygroup as well. No other changes need to be made.

p.s. make sure you activated the policyset after the change..........Many people, forget that step!
