Is there any trick to change either the management class of existing archives without to retrieve data and to archive those packages back to the TSM server? I.e. migrate an existing node into a new domain with default retention policy that meets the requirements?
Thanks, Peter

Yes. Every time the expiration runs, it looks at the management classes and compares to the archive objects. So if you change the retention of a management class, that's what will be used in the future for expiration.

If you only have multiple nodes using that management class, and you only want a different retention for one node, then you can do as you suggested with a new domain:
- copy the domain
- update the management class in the new domain
- move the node to the new domain

There is no 'trick' to move existing archive from one policy to another.

Do what marclant suggest on his second post.

Ignore my first post, I misread, I thought you wanted to change the retention, not change the management class. Follow my 2nd post.
