can't cancel a process TSM

What's the process?
AUDIT VOLUME, BACKUP STGPOOL, MIGRATE STGPOOL, and pretty much anything else that deals with data on a file by file basis will terminate the process once the current file has been fully processed. If the file in question is (eg) 1 TB, that can take a while. If TSM is trying to read a faulty tape, that can take a very long while.
I've seen CHECKOUT LIBVOLUME refuse to cancel until every specified volume had been processed and checked out (grumble) on TSM 5.4.5 (I'd fat fingered it, hit return by accident before I'd typed in "checklabel=no remove=no" - so of course, each tape was mounted, label checked, and moved to the I/O station. Which was exactly what I didn't want to happen. Long story.)
And so on and so forth. As mikeymac says, if you can't afford to wait for some reason, the only other option is to bounce the TSM server; this is very much a last resort, "in case of emergency" type of action.
