backup servers outside of the firewall

How do you backup a server that resides outside of the firewall?

Of course, YMMV,



But you can either use a vpn, or if your server is inside a firewall sandwich, poke a hole for port 1500 through the firewall and run a client side schedule rather than polled.



I could be wrong. Other opinions?
