Hi ,
Can someone tell me waht can be done when the audit comes up with the error
ANR8455E: Volume volume name could not be located during audit of library library name. Volume has been removed from the library inventory.

Hi, the message ANR8445E means that the audit is working alright, and that some tapes were missing.
To fix his you have to logon to the VTL admin interface and see if there is any "tapes" outside of the VTL,
some VTL can export media to other VTLs. It is also possible that some one at your site have done a checkout libvol and the "tapes" have been removed from the library. In any case you need to put the "tpaes " back in the VTL usinf the admin interface and then do a new audit followed by a checkin.
The checkin should be done in 2 steps
checkin libvol lib_name search=yes checkin=scratch this will make sure that any scratch tapes will be checked in sas scratch , tpaes that alreadey have data (private) will fail during this checkin. Then issue:
checkin libvol lib_name search=yes checkin=private will get the private tapes checked in for you.
If you want to checkin the "tapes" from the entry/exit port just change search=yes to search=bulk.
It is intentional that I did not use checklabel=barcode, as this is a VTL you ca afford the overhead to make sure that the "tapes" are readable.
Do some googling on the error to see what others have done. Also it helps if you write what type of VTL you are using
/good luck
