Extract from dsmerror.log:
07/25/2007 00:24:48 ANS1228E Sending of object 'C:' failed
07/25/2007 00:24:48 ANS1468E Backing up Automated System Recovery (ASR) files failed. No files will be backed up.
The reason for this error is within the Windows OS itself. You can verify this by starting the built-in 'Windows Backup Utility' (listed under 'System Tools') and try to create an ASR backup with the backup wizard listed on the main tab. If this fails, TSM is not to blame. The TSM B/A Client just utilizes the MS API to trigger the creation of the ASR backup.
I'm aware of 3 possible causes for this error to occur:
- An error in the ASR filespace on the TSM server. Delete the ASR filespace for the node from the TSM server and delete (locally) on the node the hidden directory c:\adsm.sys\ASR. After that, the ASR filespace will be recreated.
- Windows encountered a problem during startup and the "Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service" did not start properly. You may check this via the services applet or by starting disk management. After a reboot the service was started correctly, and the ANS1468E message disappeared.
- The directory c:\windows\repair is marked 'hidden'. Delete the hidden attribute on the directory.
