Are tape copy pools valid from data domain dedupe file type volumes?

We have the traditional (?) primary Data Domain dd880 but instead of using a 2nd Data Domain dd880 for offsite DR we implemented copy pool using tape.

I wondered if this is valid? Since the data on the Data Domain primary storage pools are dedeuped?

Our environment:
Data Domain dd880 presented to TSM OS as nfs mounts
we use Data Domain dd880 dedupe ( not TSM's dedupe )
stg pools created with device type = file

Thanks in advance ...

Hi Jade.
Deduplication in a datadomain appliance is conecptally the same as compresson in a tapestation. It happens without TSM beinga avare of it, hence when TSM backups the data from DD to physical tape all the data is sent to
the new media. You are safe with your setup.
A question regarding the NFS, what transfer speeds do you see in your environment, How long does it take to backup fron DD to tape copy pool?

Thank you for your response ... we plan to test on Monday to verify.

Regarding our setup ... we currently have 10Gb nics on the OS and the DD880 ( Data Domain ).
The OS is Linux RedHat 5.4 .. also we have 2 NFS mounts 2 IP addresses to DD880.
The network between the OS and the DD880 is a direct connect.

We get terrible throughput rates ... if we test sending data from OS to DD880 out side of TSM we will see
about 350 Mb/sec ... but during backups usually under 100 Mb/sec.

Thanks,
Jade
