ANS1592E - Failed to initialize SSL protocol

I upgraded SP server to v7.1.8.o and a Windows 2016 client is now getting this error when trying to connect via dsmc.

I did a bit of googling and the instructions to fix this "feature" is rather ugly.

Can anyone simplify this for me???

The cert files in instance home directory needed to be removed and the instance needed to be restarted to create new one's. Once I did that, the client was able to connect.
