ANR1854E - Unable to flush data to TEC

I have not encounter the ANR1854E message before, just a curiosity.

I looked up the ANR1854E at the IBM/Tivoli Knowledge Base and found the following

document.

TSM Server Generation of Tivoli Enterprise Console TEC Events

Problem

This article describes Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) server behavior while generating TEC events, and TSM behavior when the TEC server is not available. The TSM server does not currently support caching of TEC events, or different locales between the TSM and TEC servers.

Solution

The "tivoli" event receiver within the TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) server is used to forward messages to a TEC (Tivoli Enterprise Console) server. When an event occurs on a TSM server, the TSM server attempts to forward the event to the TEC server.

If the TEC server is available, the event is sent.

If the TEC server is not available, the TSM server attempts to send the message 5 more times at a 2 minute interval. In other words, TSM polls the TEC server for 10 minutes for the TEC server to return and accept the event.

If the TEC server remains unavailable for 10 minutes, the TSM server discards the event from the "tivoli" event receiver queue, issues an error message (ANR1854E), and disables logging to the tivoli event receiver. "Tivoli" event logging needs to be manually re-enabled when the TEC server becomes available again.

Regardless of TEC server availability, the original event is logged within the TSM activity log.

The TSM server does not currently support caching of events to the TEC server.

Events sent to the TEC server are generated in the TSM server codepage.

Good Luck,

Sias :)
