Hello everyone

We are currently running SP 8.1.13 on a Windows 2012 Server and need to migrate to the new hardware 2019 Server
These are the steps I have taken so far based on Instructions from IBM as I logged a call to ask for the correct procedure for this process
1. Built a Windows 2019 Server with the same directories and drives as the current live Server
2 Created dbdir,active_log,archive_log and dbuser1 accounts mirroring the current Server
3. Installed SP 8.1.13 and BA Client
4. Tried to start the Server in the foreground and got the error message below.....

D:\tivoli\tsm\server>dsmserv
The server has not been properly installed.
Could not find the output logfile key.
Issue dsmserv -help for a usage statement

I will appreciate our experts view on where I have gone wrong here.

Hi,

To my knowledge you need to install SP on the new server (same version probably) and allow it to be configured (dsmicfgx on *ix plattforms) When that is ready, you can restore the DB to the new host.

Hi Trident,
I installed the same version of SP server and configured it like the old one....
Please see the full output of the error message when I tried to bring up the server in the foreground....

Richard

I believe you need to initiate (new, empty) instance between steps 3 and 4.
BTW, this is dirty, unsupported way of migration, but still it may work (or may not).

Hi Mita201,
